Community coalition helps boy scout troop
DeKalb County Partnership for a Safe, Active, and Family Environment recently donated an enclosed cargo trailer to DeKalb Boy Scout Troop 33. DCP/SAFE is a community coalition promoting community based prevention, wellness and healthy lifestyles for youth, adults and the community as a whole.
“The trailer had been previously used for various community events promoted through DCP/SAFE,” Anna Stevens, DCP/SAFE coalition member, said according to a news release. “The coalition hasn’t had a need for it in the past couple of years and it was just sitting idle. When the Boy Scouts approached us about their need for a new trailer we saw it as an opportunity to help the Boy Scouts in a way that directly relates to the mission of DCP/SAFE.”
Boy Scout Troop 33 has been serving boys in the DeKalb area since 1925. They plan to use the trailer for the various events they participate in throughout the year: day trips, service projects, weekend overnights, four-day mini adventures, summer camp, and high adventure trips
