Electronics recycling collection is Saturday

The DeKalb County Solid Waste Management Program and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau will sponsor an Electronics Recycling Collection on Saturday. The event is funded by the DeKalb County Solid Waste fund and is offered at no charge to DeKalb County residents. Photo ID is required.

The Kirkland Lions Club and Boy Scout Troops 5 and 33 will provide workers.

Residents will be limited to bringing two monitors per resident coming to the collection. A television is considered a monitor. There is no limit to other electronic items such as VCR’s, DVD players, radios, game consoles, cell phones, etc.

In addition, residents also can bring used household batteries (AAA, AA, A, C, D, 9 volt, etc.) and compact fluorescent bulbs for proper disposal/recycling. It is not necessary to sort batteries by type. Microwave ovens and automotive batteries will not be accepted.

The electronic items collected will be refurbished for resale by ATR Inc.

The collection will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the DeKalb County Health Department’s parking lot at 2550 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb. Enter the parking lot from the Dresser Road entrance only. The event will end at 1 p.m. or earlier if the trailer space is full.
